Camp Classics CELEBRATE with SUCCESS
Confidence Learning Center’s 40th Annual Golf Classic & 30th Annual Nick Adams Memorial Fishing Classic could not have gone better – each element was filled to the maximum capacity! With supporters such as Al Lindner, Rep. John Ward, many local business owners, supporters of Camp new and old; the event was one that will not soon be forgotten.
The Camp Classics of Confidence Learning Center had milestone ‘birthdays’ this year with the 40th Annual Golf Classic & the 30th Annual Nick Adams Memorial Fishing Classic. Event Coordinator Sarah Sellnow stated, “We definitely had a great time with the milestone ‘birthdays’ of each event this year. The weather was beautiful, the staff, volunteers and supporters for the event were second to none and the camaraderie that is shared on this wonderful event to raise monies is impeccable!”
To kick off the 40th Annual Golf Classic the event was dedicated to the Dick Endres family; and also a team was awarded the John Beyer Memorial Award for showing outstanding and many years of support to the event. This second year award winner is Widseth Smith & Nolting.
Out of 38 participating teams, Gull Lake Promotions (consisting of Lee Johnson, Chris Foy, Zac Swarthout and Denise Millard) took home the first place bragging rights – along with a gift card to Mills Fleet Farm for each member of the team.

In the Inaugural 9-Hole Camp Golf Classic held on the Pine Beach West winning teams were:
First Place: Nor-Son
Second Place: Visit Brainerd
Third Place: Jim’s Electric
All golf awards were presented at the Sertoma’s Mariucci Fiesta. The Fiesta consisted of a wonderful live and silent auction, a wonderful Italian dinner (cooked and served by the Brainerd Sertoma group; with the food donated by Cub Foods).
The Ralph Klapperich Award was also given to Confidence Learning Center’s Volunteer of the Year; the 2013 recipient is Dan Lewandowski for his countless hours of dedication he has given to Camp over the year.
When kicking off the 30th Annual Nick Adams Memorial Fishing Classic a ten minute long tribute video to Nick Adams was shown. Produced by Lindner Media, the beautiful video consisted of interviews with multiple fishing professionals including Al Lindner, Gary Roach, Larry Bollig, as well as Idalene Adams, Camp Director Bob Slaybaugh and Executive Direct Jeff Olson. The video was a wonderful way to kick of a great day of fishing on Gull Lake. The event consisted of 75 boats with one guide and two participants; a great day on the lake was had by all!
The ‘Lunker’ awards for largest fish went to: Dale Rueling with a 4lb 1oz bass, Steven Schaitberger with a 6lb 8oz Walleye and Gary Goll with a 7lb 14oz Northern.
Awards are given to all of the following for the tournament and based on a total of three fish per division; each team is listed with a guide and two participants:

The tournament is a catch and release tournament, with the exception of walleye that must be harvested. Ally walleyes were donated to the Pikes for Vets program.
